Sculpture General
Sculpture General: "Throughout most of history, the purpose of creating sculpture has been to produce works of art that are as permanent as is possible. So to that end, works were usually produced in durable and frequently, expensive materials, primarily bronze and stone, such as marble, limestone, porphyry, onyx and granite. More rarely, precious materials such as gold, silver, jade, ivory and other semi-precious stone was used for sculptural works. More common materials were used for sculpture for wider consumption, including woods such as oak, boxwood (buxus) and lime or linden, terra cotta and other ceramics (including porcelain and pottery), and cast metals such as pewter and zinc (spelter). At Atlanta Antique Gallery we have a large selection of sculpture in all materials and from eras including Deco, Nouveau, Antiquarian (including Pre-Columbian), Victorian, and other eras."

RiteCare Childhood Language Clinics: "What is the connection between the RiteCare Clinics and the Scottish Rite?
In the early 1950’s in Colorado, the Scottish Rite initiated a program to help children with speech and language disorders. The results obtained from this program led to the establishment of Scottish Rite Childhood Language Clinics to provide diagnostic evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders, as well as learning disabilities. Today there are over 170 clinics in the United States, with two in Minnesota, serving more than 28,000 children each year"

Knights Templar – In Hoc Signo Vinces « Cemeteries and Cemetery Symbols: "This photograph is of a Masonic Knights Templar symbol showing a cross within a crown inside a Maltese cross, which has the Latin phrase, “in hoc signo vinces.” The phrase means “in this sign you shall conquer” and was used by Constantine as a military motto in the early 4th Century. The phrase was also used by the original Knights Templar military order that was founded during the Crusades. The Freemasons began using Templar rituals and symbols in the late 1700s."

About 100 people want to move to community founded by Lypa Pitsiulak
SARA MINOGUE
Several dozen people in Panniqtuuq want to move permanently to Opingivik Island across Cumberland Sound, and are seeking hamlet status for the outpost camp founded there by Lypa Pitsiulak over 25 years ago.
Twenty-seven Panniqtuuq residents met last week with Sakiasie Sowdlooapik, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s community director for Panniqtuuq, and the acting spokesperson for the group.
“I think it’s an excellent idea,” Sowdlooapik said.
“These people moved to Panniqtuuq from other outposts in the past,” he said. “They want to pass on their culture and traditional life by living in a less populated area.”
The idea to expand the outpost camp to a full-fledged community first surfaced in 2001.
The QIA started work on a written proposal for the project last year at Pitsiulak’s request. Pitsiulak has now held three meetings with Panniqtuuq residents to discuss the idea. He described the concept to their hamlet council several months ago.
So far Sowdlooapik has presented the proposal to Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and to Peter Kilabuk, the Government of Nunavut’s minister for community and government services. There has been no formal response."

Dr Harry Rosen - Earth Art to Scupture
Dr Harry Rosen - Earth Art to Scupture: "Some may refer to Dr. Rosen as an artisan builder, engineer, landscape artist or installation artist, when viewing his almost 50 year dedication to stone work and earth art. In that time he has moved, positioned and sculpted over 900 tons of stone by hand, without power equipment.
Working from the lakefront up, his passion for stone led him to transform the area with compositions of boulders harvested from the lake and where required, from stones indigenous to the area."

Beef Wellington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beef Wellington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Beef Wellington is a preparation of fillet steak coated with pâté (often pâté de foie gras) and duxelles, which is then wrapped in puff pastry and baked. Some recipes include wrapping the coated meat in a crêpe to retain the moisture and prevent it making the pastry soggy.
A whole tenderloin may be wrapped and baked, and then sliced for serving, or the tenderloin may be sliced into individual portions prior to wrapping and baking. Many spices may be added to enhance the flavour; some examples are curry, allspice, any grilling mix or ginger."

Ryan Hreljac - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Ryan Hreljac OOnt, MSM (born May 31, 1991 [1]) is a Canadian individual who, at the age of six, began raising money for those affected by the global water crisis, and has since raised millions for water and sanitation projects in Africa.
Ryan Hreljac is a compelling and passionate voice for those impacted by the water crisis in the developing world. He continues to be a role model with a clear message – that every person on the planet deserves clean water, and one voice can make a huge difference.
In 1998, when Ryan was in grade one he learned from his teacher Mrs Prest that people were dying because they didn't have clean water to drink. He decided that raising money for people who didn't have clean water would be a good thing. He worked for four months in order to earn his first $70. Ryan’s first well was built in 1999 when Ryan was seven years-old at a school in a Ugandan village. He was a very caring kid."

Last survivor of unknown Amazon tribe missing after attack - NatGeo News Watch: "the sole survivor of the unknown tribe was known to dig holes as deep as 15 feet. At the bottom of the holes spikes as long as two feet have been found, suggesting this is how he catches prey. A big hole has also been found in his house (in the picture above), which he might use as a place to hide, she said.
What makes the Brazilian authorities think the Man of the Hole may be alive? 'There is evidence that he has been picking the fruits and digging up the manioc he planted,' Watson said.
FUNAI officials had been checking on the Man of the Hole every few weeks, Watson said. 'Now they are organizing a more permanent watch over him.'"

Diogenes of Sinope - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Diogenes is credited with the first known use of the word 'cosmopolitan'. When he was asked where he came from, he replied, 'I am a citizen of the world (cosmopolites)'. This was a radical claim in a world where a man's identity was intimately tied to his citizenship in a particular city state. An exile and an outcast, a man with no social identity, Diogenes made a mark on his contemporaries."

Harbor Seal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Harbor Seal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "With an estimated 5 million to 6 million individuals, the population is not threatened as a whole; most subspecies are secure in numbers with the Greenland, Hokkaidō and Baltic Sea populations being exceptions. Local populations have been reduced or eliminated through outbreaks of disease (especially the phocine distemper virus) and conflict with humans, both unintentionally and intentionally has also been linked to common seal declines. While it is legal to kill seals which are perceived to threaten fisheries in the United Kingdom, Norway and Canada, commercial hunting is illegal; the seals are also taken in subsistence hunting and accidentally as bycatch in fishing nets."

If Mexico City is the largest city on earth, then Iqaluit easily gets the same designation within the new territory of Nunavut.
When you arrive at the bustling Iqaluit Airport, you might feel as though you've entered a frontier town. In several ways, you have. Iqaluit is the transportation hub to other Baffin Island communities, as well as to Greenland. And in December 1995, it was selected in a Nunavut-wide plebiscite to be the capital of the new central and eastern Arctic territory. That historic day arrived on April 1, 1999."
